This is a study on the suitability of Turo area in Kuopio for student housing. The area is traditional industrial area that has gradually changed to residential use.

The design has two starting points: On one hand to blend in with the urban context and on the other hand to create a whole with a distinct character.

The more abstract street facade forms a contrast to the more expressive courtyard space. The facade, roofs and ground are sculpturally treated. This also helps to bring sunlight inside the block
