Turku Museum of History and Future
The new Turku museum of History and Future is located on the waterfront close to the medieval castle of Turku.
The building is a rational and compact two storey box with sculptured extensive eaves that both protect the building but also give it a strong character and clearly distinguish it as a public building. The box is clad in granite and the eaves in copper mirroring the medieval castle's main facade materials.
The glazed lobby space is on the riverfront to maximize both views and presence and can be entered from both ends. The restaurant and cafe open up to the park and extend outdoors under the eaves. Main exhibition space is on the top floor and offers views both to the water and the castle.
Our entry "DeLorean" was among the top 6 with the total number of entries being 401.
